Complete equipment for perfect model building results

Why having the right basic equipment is crucial

The quality of your model building projects depends largely on the materials used. Professional enamel paints not only offer brilliant colors, but also the necessary coverage and durability for long-lasting results. Specially developed model building adhesives ensure secure connections between different materials, while precise tools make work easier and improve the end result.

Enamel colors for authentic paintwork

Revell enamel paints are characterized by their exceptional coverage and uniform consistency. The solvent-based colors dry matt or glossy and can be easily mixed to create individual shades. Thematic color sets already contain coordinated colors for specific model types - a practical solution for authentic results without time-consuming color research.

Processing is done with a brush or airbrush, and the colors retain their quality even after long periods of storage. Due to the optimal pigmentation, one or two layers are usually enough for complete coverage.

Reliable adhesives for lasting connections

Different materials require different adhesive technologies. Plastic glue easily dissolves the surfaces and creates inseparable connections between plastic parts. Superglue is suitable for quick repairs and fixing small details, while multi-purpose glue is universally applicable.

The correct application determines the strength of the connection: clean, degreased surfaces and economical application prevent unsightly adhesive residue and ensure optimal adhesion.

Tools and aids for precise work

Quality brushes in different thicknesses enable both large-area priming and delicate detailed work. Masking tape protects areas that have already been painted and creates sharp color edges on multi-colored paintwork. Special cleaning agents remove paint residue from brushes and tools, significantly extending their service life.

Ergonomically designed tools reduce fatigue during extended work sessions and increase precision in detailed work. Well-thought-out basic equipment saves time and leads to more professional results.

The most frequently asked questions

For beginners, Revell models with skill level 1 or 2 are recommended. Level 1 includes simple plug-in kits without glue, while level 2 requires basic gluing work. These models have fewer components (usually 20-50 parts) and simple color schemes. Experienced model makers should only start at level 3, as this already requires detailed painting and precise gluing work.

The packaging colors show a basic painting for quick results. However, the construction instructions contain detailed color recommendations for authentic, true-to-scale replicas. Professional model makers use the instructions' extended color palette for more realistic results. This enables both beginners to create simple projects and experts to create detailed replicas.

Revell releases new models and new editions of classic kits every month. Around 60-80 new products are released every year, including airplanes, ships, cars and RC models. The list of new products is updated at the beginning of each month. Collectors and enthusiasts should check the Revell webshop regularly, as limited editions often sell out quickly.

Revell invests significantly in product development, precise injection molds and detailed construction instructions. Each model goes through extensive design processes, tool making and quality control according to the EN 71.5 standard. The higher costs result from licensed original artwork, multilingual instructions and the use of high-quality plastics that enable precise details.

You can obtain spare parts for Revell models from official customer service or authorized dealers. Many parts can be reordered individually, although an exact kit number is required. Alternatively, specialized model building communities offer exchanges. For older, no longer produced models, 3D printing services or aftermarket manufacturers can often help.

The basic equipment includes plastic glue, side cutters, files, basic paints (black, white, gray) and brushes of various sizes. Primer, clear coat and detail brushes are recommended for advanced projects. A cutting mat set and good lighting significantly improve the quality of work. Budget beginners can start well with around 50-80 euros.

Revell RC models are differentiated according to age groups. Ready-to-run models are suitable for ages 8 and up, while kit RC models require experience in model building. Adults benefit from expandable systems and tuning options. The skill level marking helps with selection - RC beginners should start with levels 1-2, even as adults.

The Revell range includes over 400 active models, which is challenging for small retailers in terms of inventory and finances. Specialist retailers tend to focus on popular categories or regional preferences. The official Revell web shop offers the full range, while local dealers often allow special orders. Remaining stocks of older models can often be found in specialized model making shops.

We accept product suggestions via the contact form on the website. Successful proposals take into account market potential, licensability and technical feasibility. Keep in mind that developing new models takes 12-24 months. Detailed suggestions with reference material have a higher chance of success, but due to the high volume, not all ideas can be implemented.

All Revell products comply with the European toy standard and are regularly tested for harmful substances. Safety instructions in the construction instructions are mandatory and particularly concern adhesives and paints. Models below skill level 3 are designed for children aged 10 and over, higher levels require supervision or are only recommended for children aged 14 and over. The CE marking confirms conformity.
