The Messerschmitt Bf109E was one of the most powerful fighter aircraft of its time and became the central support of the German Luftwaffe in the early phase of the Second World War. It particularly demonstrated its maneuverability and firepower in the Battle of Britain. The E-4 variant reproduced here was flown by Major Erich Mix in France in May 1940. The Junkers Ju87B Stuka is a symbol of the so-called “Blitzkrieg” – feared for their precision when diving and their characteristic howling sound when diving.
