Revell USA Modellbau - The fascination of American technology history

What does Revell USA do model kits?

Revell USA stands for the highest quality standards in the model building of American vehicles and aircraft. The kits convince with millimeter -precise injection molding shapes that ensure perfect fit. Each detail is reproduced true to the original-from the characteristic chrome bush bars of classic Chevrolet models to the complex cockpit details of historical military aircraft.

Which vehicle categories includes the range?

The Revell USA range covers a wide range: classic American cars from the golden times of automotive history, modern pickup trucks, legendary sports cars and historical military vehicles. The detailed replicas of iconic muscle cars from the 1960s and 1970s, which perfectly capture the spirit of this era, are particularly impressive.

Which target group are these kits suitable for?

The model kits are aimed at both beginners and experienced model builders. Beginners benefit from the clear guidance and the high accuracy of the parts, while advanced users have the opportunity to refine their detailing skills. The different levels of difficulty allow every model maker to find the right project.

Why are American vehicle models so popular?

American vehicles embody a unique piece of technology and cultural history. The striking designs, the powerful engines and the cultural importance of these vehicles make them coveted collector's objects. Revell USA models make it possible to experience this fascination in a reduced form and to develop manual skills.

The most frequently asked questions

For beginners, Revell models with skill level 1 or 2 are recommended. Level 1 includes simple plug-in kits without glue, while level 2 requires basic gluing work. These models have fewer components (usually 20-50 parts) and simple color schemes. Experienced model makers should only start at level 3, as this already requires detailed painting and precise gluing work.

The packaging colors show a basic painting for quick results. However, the construction instructions contain detailed color recommendations for authentic, true-to-scale replicas. Professional model makers use the instructions' extended color palette for more realistic results. This enables both beginners to create simple projects and experts to create detailed replicas.

Revell releases new models and new editions of classic kits every month. Around 60-80 new products are released every year, including airplanes, ships, cars and RC models. The list of new products is updated at the beginning of each month. Collectors and enthusiasts should check the Revell webshop regularly, as limited editions often sell out quickly.

Revell invests significantly in product development, precise injection molds and detailed construction instructions. Each model goes through extensive design processes, tool making and quality control according to the EN 71.5 standard. The higher costs result from licensed original artwork, multilingual instructions and the use of high-quality plastics that enable precise details.

You can obtain spare parts for Revell models from official customer service or authorized dealers. Many parts can be reordered individually, although an exact kit number is required. Alternatively, specialized model building communities offer exchanges. For older, no longer produced models, 3D printing services or aftermarket manufacturers can often help.

The basic equipment includes plastic glue, side cutters, files, basic paints (black, white, gray) and brushes of various sizes. Primer, clear coat and detail brushes are recommended for advanced projects. A cutting mat set and good lighting significantly improve the quality of work. Budget beginners can start well with around 50-80 euros.

Revell RC models are differentiated according to age groups. Ready-to-run models are suitable for ages 8 and up, while kit RC models require experience in model building. Adults benefit from expandable systems and tuning options. The skill level marking helps with selection - RC beginners should start with levels 1-2, even as adults.

The Revell range includes over 400 active models, which is challenging for small retailers in terms of inventory and finances. Specialist retailers tend to focus on popular categories or regional preferences. The official Revell web shop offers the full range, while local dealers often allow special orders. Remaining stocks of older models can often be found in specialized model making shops.

We accept product suggestions via the contact form on the website. Successful proposals take into account market potential, licensability and technical feasibility. Keep in mind that developing new models takes 12-24 months. Detailed suggestions with reference material have a higher chance of success, but due to the high volume, not all ideas can be implemented.

All Revell products comply with the European toy standard and are regularly tested for harmful substances. Safety instructions in the construction instructions are mandatory and particularly concern adhesives and paints. Models below skill level 3 are designed for children aged 10 and over, higher levels require supervision or are only recommended for children aged 14 and over. The CE marking confirms conformity.
