When Ford introduced the Bronco in 1965, off-road racing was a logical way to promote the truck. Broncos were used in Baja 500 and Mexican 1000 races in connection with Bill Stroppe races. And after winning those two events, Ford offered specially designed Baja Broncos in 1971, available only at select dealers.
