Maritime model building variety at the highest level

Why ship models are the supreme discipline of the model building

Ship models have always been a special challenge in model building. The complex construction of maritime vehicles requires precise manufacturing techniques and detailed replica of various components. From the trunk shape to assemblies to the rigging - each element must be developed in accordance with the millimeter.

Which types of ships are available?

The spectrum ranges from historical sailors to warships to modern passenger steamers. Military vehicles such as battleships, cruisers and submarines form a focus, supplemented by civil ships such as freighter, ferries and cruise ships. Classic sailing ships from different eras are also represented.

What standards are offered?

The common standards range between 1: 1200 and 1:72. Smaller standards such as 1: 700 are suitable for collectors with a limited space, while larger models in scale 1: 350 or 1: 200 enable impressive detailed depth of detail. The scale determines both the space requirement and the level of difficulty of the kit.

Difficulty levels for every model builder

Beginet models with a few components enable quick success. Advanced kits offer movable protected towers, detailed interior and photorealistic printed components. Professional models with several hundred individual parts also challenge experienced model builders.

Required accessories and tools

In addition to basic tools such as side cutters and files, special model construction colors are required. Maritime colors such as ship's gray, deck beige or rust red are part of the standard equipment. Decal deviations make it easier to apply lettering and sovereignty. Additional rack yarn is necessary for sailing ships.

The correct preparation and systematic procedure guarantee optimal results for every maritime model building project.

The most common questions

For beginners, Revell models with Skill level 1 or 2. Level 1 include simple plug-in kits without glue, while Level 2 requires basic adhesive work. These models have fewer components (usually 20-50 parts) and simple color schemes. Experienced model builders should only start from level 3, since detailed painting and precise adhesive work are already required here.

The packaging colors show basic painting for quick results. However, the building instructions contain detailed color recommendations for authentic, true -to -scale replicas. Professional model builders use the extended color palette of the instructions for more realistic results. This enables simple projects as well as experts to replicate detail.

Revell publishes new models and new editions of classic kits every month. Around 60-80 new products appear every year, including aircraft, ships, cars and RC models. The list of novelties is updated at the beginning of the month. Collectors and enthusiasts should regularly check the Revell web shop, since limited editions are often quickly sold out.

Revell invests significantly in product development, precise injection molds and detailed building instructions. Each model goes through extensive design processes, tool construction and quality control according to EN 71.5 standard. The higher costs result from licensed original templates, multilingual instructions and the use of high -quality plastics that enable precise details.

You can get spare parts for Revell models from official customer service or authorized specialist dealers. Many parts can be ordered individually, with an exact kit number required. Alternatively, specialized model building communities offer exchange exchanges. In older, no longer produced models, 3D printing services or aftermarket manufacturers often help.

The basic equipment includes plastic adhesive, side cutters, files, basic colors (black, white, gray) and brush of different sizes. Primers, clear coat and detailed brushes are recommended for advanced projects. A cutting mat set and good lighting significantly improve the quality of work. Budget beginners can start well with around 50-80 euros.

Revell-RC models are differentiated according to age groups. Ready-to-run models are suitable from 8 years, while kit-RC models require experience in model making. Adults benefit from expandable systems and tuning options. The skill level identification helps with the selection-RC beginners should start with level 1-2, even as adults.

The Revell range comprises over 400 active models, which for small retailers is in terms of warehouse technology and financially. Specialist dealers mostly focus on popular categories or regional preferences. The official Revell web shop offers the full range, while local dealers often allow special orders. Remaining stocks of older models can often be found in specialized model building shops.

We accept product suggestions using the contact form of the website. Successful proposals take into account market potential, licensability and technical feasibility. Keep in mind that the development of new models takes 12-24 months. Detailed suggestions with reference material have higher chances of success, but not all ideas can be realized due to the high volume.

All Revell products correspond to the European toy standard and are regularly checked for pollutants. Safety instructions in the building instructions are mandatory and particularly affect adhesives and colors. Models under Skill level 3 are designed for children from 10 years, higher levels require supervision or are only recommended from the age of 14. The CE marking confirms conformity.
