Schlingmann LF 20/16: The fire department's first attacker in detail
When the alarm sounds, every second counts - and this vehicle is usually the first on site. The Schlingmann LF 20/16 (fire fighting vehicle) is the heart of many modern fire departments. With this highly detailed model kit on a large scale of 1:25, you can bring the concentrated technology of firefighting to your craft table. With 270 individual parts and the highest level of difficulty (Level 5), this kit is aimed at experienced model builders who are looking for real challenges and attach great importance to technical precision and authenticity.
Why this kit is a highlight for technology fans
- Look behind the scenes: An absolute highlight – you can build all equipment rooms open or closed in different ways. This means the model can be perfectly presented in an operational diorama.
- Full load: The comprehensive representation of the equipment room equipment shows in detail what real firefighters need in action - from hoses to rescue tools.
- Distinctive details: The modern blue light bar on the roof and the typical, mobile hose reel at the rear give the model its unmistakable look.
- Challenging project: With 270 components you delve deep into the vehicle architecture. From the chassis to the pump stand, real engineering skill in model format is required here.
- Individual design: You can use the included decals to customize the vehicle and, among other things, recreate the original vehicle of the Löhne Volunteer Fire Department.
Assembling the Schlingmann LF 20/16 is a lesson in firefighting technology. You construct the complex chassis, expand the crew cabin and devote yourself to the heart: the finely detailed box body with all its fittings and equipment. The finished model is an impressive exhibit that perfectly captures the versatility of modern emergency vehicles.
Background information
The Schlingmann LF 20/16 is a real powerhouse and, due to its extremely extensive equipment, is almost always the first vehicle to go out to fight fires. It has everything on board to be able to work independently in the crucial first minutes. This includes a fire water tank with a capacity of 2,400 liters and an extremely powerful pump in the rear. This pumps up to 2,000 liters of water per minute at 10 bar pressure, making it the most important weapon against the flames.

For beginners, Revell models with skill level 1 or 2 are recommended. Level 1 includes simple plug-in kits without glue, while level 2 requires basic gluing work. These models have fewer components (usually 20-50 parts) and simple color schemes. Experienced model makers should only start at level 3, as this already requires detailed painting and precise gluing work.
The packaging colors show a basic painting for quick results. However, the construction instructions contain detailed color recommendations for authentic, true-to-scale replicas. Professional model makers use the instructions' extended color palette for more realistic results. This enables both beginners to create simple projects and experts to create detailed replicas.
Revell releases new models and new editions of classic kits every month. Around 60-80 new products are released every year, including airplanes, ships, cars and RC models. The list of new products is updated at the beginning of each month. Collectors and enthusiasts should check the Revell webshop regularly, as limited editions often sell out quickly.
Revell invests significantly in product development, precise injection molds and detailed construction instructions. Each model goes through extensive design processes, tool making and quality control according to the EN 71.5 standard. The higher costs result from licensed original artwork, multilingual instructions and the use of high-quality plastics that enable precise details.
You can obtain spare parts for Revell models from official customer service or authorized dealers. Many parts can be reordered individually, although an exact kit number is required. Alternatively, specialized model building communities offer exchanges. For older, no longer produced models, 3D printing services or aftermarket manufacturers can often help.
The basic equipment includes plastic glue, side cutters, files, basic paints (black, white, gray) and brushes of various sizes. Primer, clear coat and detail brushes are recommended for advanced projects. A cutting mat set and good lighting significantly improve the quality of work. Budget beginners can start well with around 50-80 euros.
Revell RC models are differentiated according to age groups. Ready-to-run models are suitable for ages 8 and up, while kit RC models require experience in model building. Adults benefit from expandable systems and tuning options. The skill level marking helps with selection - RC beginners should start with levels 1-2, even as adults.
The Revell range includes over 400 active models, which is challenging for small retailers in terms of inventory and finances. Specialist retailers tend to focus on popular categories or regional preferences. The official Revell web shop offers the full range, while local dealers often allow special orders. Remaining stocks of older models can often be found in specialized model making shops.
We accept product suggestions via the contact form on the website. Successful proposals take into account market potential, licensability and technical feasibility. Keep in mind that developing new models takes 12-24 months. Detailed suggestions with reference material have a higher chance of success, but due to the high volume, not all ideas can be implemented.
All Revell products comply with the European toy standard and are regularly tested for harmful substances. Safety instructions in the construction instructions are mandatory and particularly concern adhesives and paints. Models below skill level 3 are designed for children aged 10 and over, higher levels require supervision or are only recommended for children aged 14 and over. The CE marking confirms conformity.
